Project 28 - rhythm and pattern

There are so many examples of rhythm and pattern all around that it's difficult to choose a couple.
For pattern, these are some tiles in the Topaki Palace in Istanbul - the whole place is just covered in different sorts of patterns with entirely different tiles working together in an outstanding way. Unfortunately my photography is not up to showing this off however! Another favourite is Kaffe Fassett, a designer specialising in pattern and colour to amazing effect (http://www.kaffefassett.com) through his knitting, mosaic, needlepoint and quilt designs. Rhythm is shown here through the pillars of these buildings in a not dissimilar way to that shown in the course notes. I optimistically think the bird in the sky helps break up that rhythm, but equally it could be seen as a distraction!
